Client: Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland Location: Nepal Duration: 9/2005 Partners: Ministry of Local Development, His Majesty’s Government of Nepal, Chamber of Commerce of Sunsari and Morang districts in Dharan and Biratnagar. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the protection of the environment and to the environmentally sustainable rural, urban and industrial development and utilisation of natural resources in Nepal through strengthening and improving local level environmental administration and management capacities and practices. Implementation of the SEAM-N project began 2001 and in September 2005 Aaltonen Consulting Ltd was assigned to develop a project document for the completion period of 2006-2007. Project Document (PD), complemented with work plan and budget was prepared and it was used as a part of tender documentation by Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. The SEAM-N has been divided into 5 project components as follows: 1. Environmental administration, planning and management at the local level 2. Local administration environmental fund 3. Cleaner production and occupational health and safety at local industries 4. Environmental investment support fund for local industries 5. Environmental monitoring and laboratory services |

The main counterparts of the SEAM-N project are the Ministry of Local Development, Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology and Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.
